The Fine Arts Activity Fee has funding available for student RSOs and academic departments sponsoring Fine Arts events through our Variable Allocation fund.* Previously funded events have included visiting artist lectures and workshops, film festivals, art exhibitions, and more.
To qualify for Committee funding, events must:
- Support cultural activities in the visual, literally, applied or performing arts
- Be open to all SIU students
- Be advertised to the general student body
- Not be used to generate academic credit hours
- Not be fundraisers or scholarships
- Be free of charge**
Priority is given to events that will reach diverse student populations, as well as to groups who have secured funding from additional sources. Proposals are approved based on their feasibility, accuracy, clarity, and impact.
*Academic departments who already receive Fixed Allocation funds are not eligible to apply.
**Events funded by the Committee should generally permit free admission to SIU students. However, the Committee may authorize charging students for large and expensive events funded by the Fine Arts Activity Fee. In such cases the amount charged to students must be significantly less than charged to the general public. Advanced approval from the Committee must be obtained before students may be charged to attend an event funded by the Fine Arts Activity Fee.
